Zim and I just fixed the pinball machine in the Java Joint.
The pinball machine is free, but the repair bill came to around $70, which I paid out of pocket. Hopefully Belcon will be able to reimburse me, but if not, donations are requested. Just drop some change into the slot when you play, you don't have to, but it would be much appreciated.

I have too much stuff. More specifically, too many clothes. So I've been swearing copiously and putting in a box.
There's a give and take box up on third floor full of clothes and a few shoes. Some of it awesome (and I hate to give it up) and some of it sucks and prolly should just get thrown away. Regardless: Free clothes on third floor.
Now I weep.

Sign Missing Again
So, I have read that the sign in front of Wood D has been stolen again. Perhaps it got broken, or perhaps.... faires took it away to a happy place.
If it was stolen, however I have a suggestion. Why doesn't BSFFA stop displaying orginal art, and put up some sort of hilarious sign instead so that if it gets stolen again It won't induce mourning.
How about: This is the thrid time we've had to remake a sign that someone on the Beloit College campus has stolen.
Or (and I'm not serious about this one) You laugh now... But will you be laughing when I crawl out from under your bed?
Or: Every time you steal our sign, a crappier one gets made
Or: General meeting time and place ie: Wood D Smoking Lounge 5:00 every other Sunday
Or something else.
I know I was really upset when the sign was stolen when I was living in BSFFA. Since it looks to be an ongoing thing I suggest becoming a bit less invested in it so that when it goes away it does not make BSFFA very very sad. And perhaps drum up some interest in vandilism on campus.
It might make BSFFA sign stealing more popular. But then other signs can be made to say say: "How 'come no one steals BSU's Sign?" Or "Contribue some cash for the paint, stealers!" or "It takes more talent to keep inking (or thinking up) these signes then it does to steal them"
Just a suggestion. Feel free to discuss.
Happy Move-in Day. Current Mood: thoughtful

So the newest version of the BSFFA website is up: www.beloit.edu/~bsffa
And its pages are EMPTY!!
Here's what it needs:Descriptions of events
(such as: Rush BSFFA, LARP, weekly boffer, BSFFA BBQ, movie nights, Dairyland, etc.)Descriptions of the different active sections of BSFFA
(Role Playing, Live Action Gaming, War Gaming, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Out-of-House)Descriptions of games/systems
(What is Deliria, Shadowrun, L5R, Vampire: The Masquerade? What is Delarpia? Boffer?)Links
(to gaming sites/resources, BSFFA-related stuff, whatever)A banner
(Something to replace the title "Beloit Science Fiction Fantasy Association" written at the top of every page. Something pretty?)BSFFA pictures/artwork
(of tower, of events, of BSFFA things - Cthulu, the BSFFA sign out front, whatever)Dates of stuff to put on the calendar
Really, just go through the site, find something that needs help, send me something to fix it! OR
Find something that needs help, get someone else to draw/write/do something, send it to me to fix it!
Email it to me khalekj at stu. Or leave it in the comments.
I don't have the time to work on this thing much more, so this poor site will remain empty without help from you guys and freshman hazing. Anything helps! Even if it's a 3 sentance description of what a boffer is. Or a link to a cool site.
Thanks all! I hope your summers are going swimmingly!

Go Team Vagina!
So this is something I've been thinking about for a while now. Women gamers. We've got a lot of them, and a lot of really good ones. So next year, I want to run an all female campaign. No more being the obligatory boobs in a group. I'm serious, no boys at all. I'm not settling on players now, I don't have plot, or even a system.
This is where the women of this club come in. Who wants to play? What would you want to play? When? Should I save slots for first-years? What about those lovely ladies who'll be abroad first semester, but back during second semester? What about hilarious dual-run games, one all ladies, the other all men?
Systems I'd be cool running in (at all. Feel perfectly free to bring up other systems; I'm not opposed to learning new rules):
Shadowrun (4rth ed)
Exalted (2nd ed)
Legend of the Five Rings
Changeling? (I don't know it, but some of you do)
Vampire something or other
Traveller (I totally might be into a space opera...Anyone know a better system than this?)
Serenity (universe, but maybe not Serenity system...)
Unknown Armies (bedamned if I know anything other than that it's cool)
I've got a summer to come up with some really good game for people, so talk to me. I'll probably bring this up again later in the summer in order to remind us all of the possibility.
**Edit** Actually, even better than thinking of systems, think of what you want to play. If you want to be a Gothic team of Ninja avengers, animate children's toys, superheroes/villains, space cowboys, Israeli commandoes, whatever; I will find a system to fit it. Current Mood: curious

Kiss me, Pinch me, SHOOT ME IN THE FACE. Am I dreaming?
I think I'm graduating.
As I have just finished college, I am in a mood to celebrate. The
party will start at 9p.m. 3rd floor tower d. Tuesday. Dancing,
Eating, Chilling. We will be honoring the seniors:
(Names Deleted to protect the Guilty)
I just purchased food and soda for the party. Bring food, bring
yourself, bring a gift for me.
See you Tuesday

Who's going to be around this summer for games? I am willing to run one and would love to play in a few.

Senior Graduation Party
I have decided to do the work to make one happen. I have also talked to a variety of people and have made a decision about location and time and date.
I would like to have the party in Tower D, on third floor on Tuesday night, last night of finals. If you live on 3rd floor and are not ok with this, you should respond below or email me. I have talked to a convenience sample of in-housers and all have been excited about the prospect.
Music: We need speakers and a computer. I can get my computer to campus if someone is willing to house it in their room on Tuesday night. I would like to borrow speakers as well if anyone has speakers good enough to make a party happen.
Security: We would need to have 3 people at all times "securing the party." This means one person at each entrance to 3rd floor and a 'floater.' The time of the party will be 11-2, and we need 9 people to agree to work security.
If you have any interest in giving me the gift that keeps on giving - an after party hangover and a fun last BSFFA dance - please sign up for security with a comment below. It will for-realsies mean a lot to me.
This is not an invite only party, and it is not a campus advertised party. I will provide little paper hats for the seniors, and refreshment of some thing in terms of food and soda.
If you have any concerns, suggestions or anything leave a comment. If you have any useful comments, I would appreciate them.and we will discuss this in high-drama LJ fashion.

Third Floor Lounge
Why does it smell like someone poured sweet and sour sauce over a basket of rotting oranges outside my room? In my room smells fresh and clean (yay), but outside terrifies me. Caitlin, is this a byproduct of one of your genetic experiments? Is this some aerially secreted plant hormone meant to brainwash me? Current Mood: annoyed

A Humble Announcement
So I've committed myself to writing up the Beloit Deliria stuff over break. To make it accessible to everyone else and to hopefully get other people to write, I've created the LJ community beloitmysterium
. The intro entry is up.
There will be at least one tabletop pickup and a one shot larp this coming semester. Specifically for the larp I'm looking for people willing to learn the system to help with mechanical stuff, people who are willing to be NPCs or PCs with one or two jobs to do, random extras, or sandwich makers. I'm not sure when the larp will be yet, but probably February or March.
I am begging for help on this one (the writing I mean, I'm not a writer), so please poke me, scream, or email or anything.

I don’t want to clutter the listserve for out-of-house people, so I’m going to complain here for now.
It’s 6:30 AM. I just spent the last 20 minutes cleaning the lounge.Stuff:
* We have trash cans. Please use them.
* I don’t know whose open jar of mustard that was, leaking all over the floor, but your mustard is gone now.
* Clothes left on the floor are now in the give and take box. If they’re yours, take them back before someone else does.
* If you’re the last person in the lounge on a given night and the place looks like crap, please consider tidying up a bit. Knock on my door and I will help you.
* Blah blah blah dishes blah blah blah.

Life in Tower During Dairland?
So, as you may or may not have known life has been less than great for me recently. BUT! I am doing much better now but now it is DAIRLYLAND!
Which means you all seem to be off places doing things that I'm not. Is anyone here available and wants to do cool things this weekend like drink and watch movies and smoke my hookah? Or just chill?
Reply here or email me! I would like to crawl out of my hole and drink some malibu and OJ with some people I like.

2 and 3rd floor lounges and the housekeeper
I just spoke with the housekeeper; she says she didn't realize the areas at the end of the hall were lounges, and that she's been told (apparently rather firmly,) that we can do whatever we want with them. When I asked her if there was anything she didn't want us to do, stuff that would get in the way of her job for instance, she explained that she had been told flat out that what she thinks about it "doesn't matter and that we get to do whatever we want." So I think Kat's cunning plan has worked after all, or something has, and in her own passive aggressive way, she's resigned to letting us actually have a special interest house up here. The printer is safe, guys.

A Favor House Atlantic
Well, I'll bring this up at Gen today, but I figure I'll start shit on LJ first. C'mon, we need the drama.
Slight issue I have here: Lounge space is at a ridiculous premium. We have one TV in the club (yes, other people have personal tvs, but I've not the money for that.). We have two lounges in club, the first floor, which contains both the kitchen and the solitary tv and the smoking lounge, now bereft of tv.
I really think people should not game in the first floor lounge except at ridiculous hours when people are unlikely to use it (as in, I ran a game there last night when the entirety of tower was in madison). If you're in there you're either blocking off the only kitchen or the only tv. Your love of game doesn't trump my love of cooking or video game. Maybe I'm the only one who has found this incredibly inconvenient. Not that I care about numbers on this.
You can take your game to Haven, Java Joint, smoking lounge, fireside lounge, some other lounge that is less highly trafficked. Seriously, that space needs to be free for cooking, hanging, and tv-related activity.

Lex is nice and lovely person and already sent out an email.
But Goddammit bitches. Why is the lounge always filthy?
People are already leaving the chairs scattered, books and papers and pens lying about, and dishes and puddles of scum and food out all over. I don't want to get blue-carded. If you live here too, you don't want to get blue-carded. If you don't live here and we get blue carded I'll kick you in sensitive areas.
I love the lounge and kitchen. I love hanging out with hordes there, when there are games and cookings and movies. But I hate leaving a bunch of shit for Leona (our housekeeper) to pick up. She's awesome and should be treated well. Also, Lex should not have to pick up after us. She gives us tea, so we should be nice to her as well.
Don't leave your shit around!
Love and cuddles,
